Designate a Sober Driver This St. Patrick’s Day

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that one person was killed in a drunk driving accident every 50 minutes in the United States in 2016. Those fatalities were preventable. Those fatalities can serve as a reminder, especially with the St Patrick’s Day weekend upon us.

For this reason, the Mentor Police Department always targets impaired drivers, but from March 17th thru March 19th we will have additional patrol units working in the city looking for, and arresting impaired drivers. If drivers are found to be under the influence they will be arrested.

The Mentor Police Department wants to remind drivers that when you drink your green beer this St. Patrick’s Day, drink responsibly. Pass your keys to a sober driver, call a taxi, call an Uber, call anyone, just don’t get into a car if you drink. We want everyone to have a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day.
