Work on the concrete portion of the Road Program has begun in the Pinegate Subdivision. Although work has been temporarily suspended for the full depth concrete repairs, the contractor will perform full depth repairs on the following streets throughout the summer: Norwood Drive, Pinewood Court, Gatewood Drive, Aspenwood Court, Foxwood Court, Ramblewood Drive, Cannon Ridge Drive, Snowberry Court, Curberry Drive, Catalpa Circle, Canterbury Lane and Yellowwood Drive.

MENTOR, Ohio: May 15, 2012—Mentor Police Chief Dan Llewellyn advises that the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve and Dock A at the Marina is closed until further notice while police search for a missing resident.

Raymond R. Gabor, Jr. left work abruptly at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14 and police are concerned that he may be a threat to himself. A handgun and prescription pills were missing from his residence. He was last seen wearing gray dress slacks, a maroon polo shirt with baby blue stripes and brown dress shoes. Mr. Gabor’s truck was located at the trail area of the Mentor Lagoons and he was seen at approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday night in the area of the beach at Mentor Lagoons.

Mr. Gabor is 45 years old, 6’, 225 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

MENTOR LAGOONS NATURE PRESERVE & MARINA CONCESSION SERVICES LICENSE AGREEMENT

PURPOSE:

To provide food and beverage (non-alcoholic) service to the public at the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve & Marina during the boating season. This facility is home port to over 600 boats, as well as transient boaters, fishermen, nature lovers, bird watchers, recreation program participants and other members of the public who utilize the property throughout the season. The concessionaire (licensee) will provide a portable vendor’s station and person(s) to operate the concession at this facility.

REQUIRED PRE-QUALIFICATIONS:

At the time of the proposal deadline, the applicant must possess, or demonstrate the ability to obtain, all necessary licenses and permits to conduct a food and beverage concession. This includes, but is not limited to, the Lake County Board of Health Mobile Food Service Operator’s License and any State Board of Health or Bureau of Worker’s Compensation requirements. The successful applicant will be required to have all employees submit to, and pass, a City of Mentor background check.

DURATION:

The concession services license agreement shall be for one boating season defined as starting Friday, May 25, 2012 and ending on Monday, September 3, 2012. Required minimum hours of operations regardless of weather during the boating season shall be:

11 a.m. through 7 p.m. every Friday and Saturday;

11 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Sundays on Holiday Weekends;

11 a.m. thru 3 p.m. every Sunday except Holiday Weekends as indicated above.

CONCESSIONS SITE:

This License Agreement is not a lease and no interest in real estate is being provided. As a license the concessionaire will have the exclusive privilege to provide concession services at the facility. While no site is guaranteed and subject to the operational needs of the facility, it is anticipated the concession operation will be conducted at or around the site of the former “Flagship” restaurant. The City will provide outdoor dining accommodations using picnic tables. This location is at the hub of boating/nature activity occurring at the facility which can attract over 1,000 people daily during peak times. It is conveniently located near the marina entrance, boat ramps, public parking for the nature preserve and public restrooms. Only one license agreement will be awarded and the City of Mentor will not offer similar services, except for any existing vending machines.

UTILITIES:

The City will provide water and electricity at no charge and will also make available grey water and trash disposal services. The successful applicant shall provide all appropriate hook-ups to the provided utilities.

A closest to the pin and putting contest will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and you receive a free 10 minute lesson with one of our golf pros. All events are free, but you will need to register in advance for your lesson by calling (440) 951-0010. Black Brook Golf Course & Practice Center is located at 8900 Lake Shore Boulevard.

The practice center replaces the former driving range which was totally redesigned to include a natural tee measuring 1.5 acres, an artificial tee for inclement weather, target greens, uneven lie area, sand bunkers, and new irrigation and drainage. The practice center will provide golfers with a more substantial practice session and increase the course’s instructional opportunities and revenue. The majority of the excavating work was performed by Mentor’s Public Works employees.

Signs will be posted to warn motorists that the tracks are closed.
