To promote bicycle safety, the Mentor Police Department, in cooperation with the Greater Cleveland Safe Kids Coalition, and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, offers bicycle helmets at a significantly reduced cost. The helmets are name brands and are tested to exceed the stringent bicycle helmet standards set by the American Society of Testing and Materials, and the American National Standards Institute.
We carry helmets in sizes ranging from mini-toddler to adult large. The cost of a helmet is $8.50 each. To place an order, print out and complete the bicycle helmet order form. Mail the completed order form, along with a check or money order made payable to the City of Mentor to:

Your check or money order must be made out to the “CITY OF MENTOR.” You will be notified by telephone when your order is ready for pick up. Normal delivery time is two weeks. Call Officer Marilyn Satterfield at (440) 974-5760 ext. 2117 or 2118 if you have questions.
Register Your Bike Online
The Mentor Police Department now offers the citizens of Mentor a no cost, online, bicycle registration program. Each year, there are many bicycles lost or stolen resulting in a significant dollar loss to the owners of the bikes. This registration program will help the police identify the rightful owner of a recovered bike. Once the registration form has been submitted, your bicycle information will be on file and if your bike is lost or stolen it can easily be returned to you when it is found.
You have two options for completing the process: you can download and then fill out the Bike Registration Input Form and then return it via email to policerecords@cityofmentor.com. Or you can print out the PDF version, complete the form and then return it to the Police Department, at 8500 Civic Center Boulevard, Mentor, OH 44060. Unless you’re applying in person, your license sticker will be mailed to you.
