Cultural Arts

The Cultural Arts Division, housed at the City of Mentor’s Wildwood Cultural Center, offers programs, courses, and special events throughout the year to support and encourage the development of cultural arts in our community. The Cultural Center is also the meeting place for the Creative Artists Association.

The Cultural Arts Division also supports organizations including the Basketry Guild, Garden Club, Quilters Guild and the Wildwood Singers.

To help support cultural arts in the Mentor community, Wildwood Cultural Center offers a membership program, that provides special discounts and promotions to members.

Courses in art, drawing, painting, cooking, writing, music, language and more are offered throughout the year. Classes are available for children and adults.

Mentor’s Community Arts Commission assists Cultural Arts through fundraising and through events such as the Dorothy McNamara Maloney Memorial Art Contest and Show. This juried show was created in 1993 to highlight the accomplishments of Lake County artists. It was renamed to honor the woman who started the show, and who was also a noted artist and teacher.  The event is held every September and is limited to Lake County residents only, 18 years and older. Cash awards are given in several categories.

The Cultural Arts Division also coordinates many special events throughout the year including the Little Princess Valentine’s Dance, Mentor Farmers Market, Summer Concert Series, Wildwood Fine Arts & Crafts Festival, Mentor Cruise In, Great Pumpkin Hunt, City of Mentor Fall Bridal Gala and the Holiday Display & Craft Show. The Center also assists our clubs with events such as WinterWeave, Wildwood Singers Spring and Holiday concerts,  Garden Club Plant Sale, Porcelain Treasures Show, and the Quilt Guild’s Small Quilt Show & Auction.
