Beginning Watercolor Painting

Welcome to the wonderful world of watercolor painting! Come learn the basics and a variety of approaches to this exciting medium. Discover that watercolor can be more creative and flexible than you might think. Find a style that feels comfortable for you. Work like Winslow Homer, layering and mopping up colors to creative richness and depth or develop a more direct approach like Georgia O’Keeffe. No academic prerequisite to this class. Limited only by your own imagination and creativity. Be traditional or experimental. Find your own personal approach.

Create Your Own Bridal Flowers

All brides-to-be can learn how to save money by creating your own floral arrangements for your big day! It’s easier than you may think and the cost of creating your own bouquets is reasonable. There will be a demonstration on creating a variety of bridal bouquets, corsages and pew bows.

Create Your Own Flower Arrangements

Join us in this four week class of creative enjoyment!  You will make a beautiful fresh floral and silk arrangements; please bring a paring knife and wire cutters to the classes. All fresh flowers will be provided by instructor for a $12 fee payable in cash to the instructor. We’ll discuss your silk arrangement at the first class; students will be responsible for purchasing their own silk flowers.

In these crochet classes, you will explore hook sizes, yarn selection, and some basic crochet stitches.  As you become more experience, you will learn more advanced stitches; explore shaping through increasing and decreasing, as well as stitches that can add texture and dimension to your work.

Multi-Media Art Class

Enjoy the opportunity to create art in the media of your choice, which includes oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil,  pastel or colored pencil and more! Classes are held in a spacious light filled room with views of the surrounding grounds. Students will receive a continuous one on one education in a relaxed setting. All levels of artistic development, from the beginning student to the more mature artist, are welcome. Since classes are taught one on one, students will advance at their own pace. Some classes will include a brief lecture and/or demonstration of art theories or principles. If you wish to start something new Dottie will recommend the supplies you will need. Bring your supplies and subject matter to the first class. Come prepared to learn, create, experiment and enjoy art!

Pencil Draw Your Pet

Who knows your pet better than you? Learn how to capture the personality of your pet using numbered pencil techniques. Work from your own photos. Don’t currently own a pet? Work from old photos or photos of a favorite friend. We will discuss lighting, using props to capture ‘the look’ and incorporating props to tell a personality story.

Stained Glass Photo Frame

Want a new and artistic way to display a photo? How about your own stained glass frame! In this beginning class, you will select a pattern and the glass to create your own stained glass photo frame. Learn how to cut and shape glass and assemble the project from start to finish using the copper foil method.

The Young Rembrandts elementary program provides the tools this age group needs to succeed at drawing – a teaching tool form which the majority of learners prefer and ALL learners benefit! Out program works because it’s not only hands-on and visual…it’s simply fun. Add to this our innovative guided instruction, topics that kids love and relate to, and instructors know how to reach this group; we take kids from thinking they’re not “artists” to knowing they can achieve this, and everything else, they put their minds to.

This entertaining program combines Young Rembrandts’ innovative, hands-on teaching method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor and their vivid imaginations. Maintaining a quick pace and drawings that tell a story also help kids to stay on task, learn from their mistakes find new solutions to a problem and communicate ideas and concepts through pictures – skills with lifetime benefits! All materials are provided.

Each week, join in for the creation of a variety of crafts following seasons, holidays and more. Classes may include stamping, scrapbooking, beading plus seasonal crafts like ornaments and wreaths.

Creative Ceramics

Join us for seasonal ceramic projects. Your creative instructor will provide instruction and firing. You can select your project. Greenware fee is payable to instructor and a $8 material fee is due at registration and includes use of paints and brushes. All levels of students are welcome.

Recommended pre-requisite: Drawing Basics. Once the foundation’s laid with “shape & perspective knowledge,” landscape, figures, portraiture, and still life drawing/painting ensues! The instructor selects, with student input, a few topics throughout the session for the students to draw OR paint. 

Tuesday Morning Quilters

Join Teri and our Tuesday morning quilters as they explore making new projects using modern & time-saving methods in a warm, friendly, and self-paced atmosphere. Focus will be on learning color, value, & construction techniques to advance your quilting knowledge. Students should bring material (based upon provided project supply list), sewing machine in good condition, sewing notions, & miscellaneous supplies (rulers, rotary cutters, scissors). An iron & ironing board is provided for your convenience.
