The Mentor Police Department consists of a Chief, three Captains, four Lieutenants, eight Sergeants, and sixty-four officers. Along with patrol officers, the department maintains seven detectives, two K-9 officers, two crime prevention officers, one school resource officer, and one court liaison officer. The department also includes four part-time officers, seven corrections officers, fifteen communications staff, five records personnel, two property/evidence staff, two victim’s assistance advocates, one city prosecutor with two office personnel, and nine school crossing guards.

Our officers staff a number of special units, including a swat team, a hostage negotiations team, a bicycle unit, the Lake County Bomb Squad, evidence technicians, and field training officers.
