The city of Mentor hosted its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 26, 2025. The ceremony was preceded by a solemn procession which began at 9:30 AM from Memorial Middle School.
The keynote speaker this year was US Army Captain Richard J. Whalen. The Staten Island, NY native is a 2019 graduate of West Point. After serving in a variety of roles both in the US and abroad, Whalen reported to the Cleveland Recruiting Battalion in December of 2023 where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer before taking Company Command.
