Mentor is one great shopping destination — with nearly 600 retail businesses. A low 6.25% sales tax also makes the shopping better in Mentor. In fact, so many people come here to shop, that Mentor ranks 6th in Ohio in volume of total retail sales! (The top ten in order are: Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, Cleveland, Akron, MENTOR, Springdale, Dayton, North Olmsted and Parma.)
In 1961, the Great Lakes Mall opened as the world’s largest indoor shopping mall. While it’s no longer the largest, its size is still pretty impressive with 1.5 million square feet of retail space on 125 acres of land. The mall contains 110 stores and is anchored by J.C. Penney, Macy’s, Sears and Dillard’s department stores.
Other major shopping centers and national retailers are also represented in Mentor, along with many locally owned specialty shops. Check out the interactive Map for help in locating your favorites.
