City of Mentor Civil Service Commission is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Full-Time Police Officer. Must be a U.S. citizen or in process of becoming a citizen, at least 20 years old at time of application and at least 21 years old at time of appointment. (No person is eligible to receive an original appointment on or after the person’s 36th birthday.) Must have a valid driver’s license and be a high school grad or have GED. Applicants who receive a passing grade on the written exam will earn an additional two points for each of the following if proper documentation is provided: 1) Applicants who have successfully completed a Police Academy and currently hold an Ohio Police Certification as defined by the OPOTC; 2) Applicants who have proof of an honorable discharge (DD214), or of current active duty service in “good standing”; and, 3) Applicants with an Associate Degree from an accredited university or college, or who have accumulated class credits equal to two complete years in pursuit of a four-year degree at an accredited university or college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. Salary Range – $51,599.34 to $72,381.40. You must participate in the following: Written Exam, Tri-C Physical Agility Test, Polygraph, Background Investigation, Medical Exam, Psychological Test, and Oral Interview. To be processed for possible appointment, you must have a valid Tri-C physical agility certification (cost is at applicant’s own expense). A written exam will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. A non-refundable filing fee of $20 is required at time of application. Special applications for the written exam will only be available through the Civil Service Commission (Mentor Municipal Center/3rd Floor) beginning Monday, March 10, 2014. We will begin accepting completed applications weekdays beginning Monday, March 10th through Friday, March 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the City of Mentor, Mentor Municipal Center (3rd Fl.), 8500 Civic Center Blvd., Mentor, OH.
