PART TIME CUSTODIAN

The City of Mentor is seeking a part-time custodian to clean office areas, restrooms, floors and common areas at the senior center facility.  Work involves the care and maintenance of the facility and grounds as well as opening and readying the building for daily programs.  Hours of work are primarily in the early morning on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Selected individual must be able to work independently and as part of a team.  Valid driver’s license and high school graduation or GED required.   Hourly rate of pay $11.29 hr.  Previous cleaning experience desired.  Employment applications (see below) may be submitted to:  HRMail2@cityofmentor.com.  Employment applications are also available in the Human Resource Office, Mentor Municipal Center 3rd Floor, 8500 Civic Center Blvd., Mentor, OH.  Application deadline:  open until filled.

 

FULL-TIME EMERGENCY DISPATCHER

The City of Mentor is seeking a full-time Emergency Communications Dispatcher . Responsibilities include processing emergency calls from the public, determining priorities, and dispatching emergency units. Work entails exercising judgment in coordinating responses to situations that may affect the lives and safety of the public, police and fire personnel. Work relies heavily on the use of complex computer and technical equipment.  Advanced multitasking skills are necessary. Must be available to work rotating shifts and some weekends/holidays.  High school graduation or GED required. Prior emergency dispatch and computer experience preferred. Pay range: $19.66 – $23.86 per hour (DOQ).  MAINTENANCE AIDE PART-TIME

The City of Mentor is seeking a part-time Maintenance Aide to work in the Public Works Department. The Maintenance Aide performs a wide variety of tasks year round, on a part-time basis, working approximately 25 hours per week. Duties include, but are not limited to: cutting grass, weed whipping, shoveling snow, cleaning of buildings and vehicles, painting and garbage collection. High school graduate or GED required. A valid driver’s license is required. Starting rate of pay is $11.29 per hour. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AIDE II

The City of Mentor is seeking an individual to work full-time as a Building Maintenance Aide II.   The successful candidate must be experienced and skilled in the building trades (plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, HVAC) and have knowledge of the required and preventative maintenance and repair of city buildings and related facility areas.  Responsibilities include performance of work, coordination of the work of outside contractors and supervision of other maintenance personnel.  The Building Maintenance Aide will have on-call responsibility to respond to off-hours facility emergencies.  High school graduation (or GED) supplemented by vocational coursework in building, construction, maintenance, HVAC systems or other related courses and a valid driver’s license is required.  Computer skills working with Microsoft Office is a plus. PART-TIME FIREFIGHTER/EMT

The City of Mentor Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of part-time firefighter/EMT. Must be a US Citizen or be eligible to legally work in the US, at least 18 years of age, have a valid Ohio Drivers License, High School Diploma or GED. Minimum qualifications include the completion of Ohio Firefighter 1 and EMT Basic training. Firefighter II, Paramedic training along with some experience is preferred. Applicants must successfully complete all hiring requirements. Starting rate of pay: $15.88/hr. Other compensation incentives are available. FITNESS INSTRUCTOR Qualifications and experience required:   Certified fitness instructor needed for the Mentor Senior Center to teach a variety of classes.  Currently hiring to fill Saturday morning Pilates and strength training class instructors. Brief description of work:   Provide instruction to group fitness participants ensuring a safe and enjoyable class. Starting rate of pay:  $12.00/hr. (Depending on qualifications and experience.)

MARINA ASSISTANT OPERATOR Qualifications and experience required:  Applicant must possess a Forklift Operator Certification, must be a high school graduate/GED and have a valid driver’s license. Brief description of work:  Responsible for performing work at the Lagoons Nature Preserve and Marina, lifting boats in and out of water and rack storage along with general maintenance of property. Typical Schedule: Varied work hours, weekend and holiday hours are required.    Starting rate of pay:  $12.00/hr.

MAINTENANCE AIDE Qualifications and experience required:  Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be a high school graduate/GED. Brief description of work:  Perform and assist in the daily maintenance of the cemetery, marina and all parks including but not limited to: mowing, athletic field preparation, turf grass maintenance, playground maintenance, litter and trash pick-up, maintenance of hiking trail, truck and trailer operation and fence repair.  Perform and assist in the daily maintenance of vehicles and equipment.  Work in all weather conditions. Typical Schedule:  Varied work hours, may work up to 40 hours per week during temporary assignment. Starting rate of pay:  $8.10/hr.

LIFEGUARD Qualifications and experience required:  Applicants must have a current American Red Cross/YMCA/ BSA / or Ellis and Associates Lifesaving Certification, CPR for Professional Rescuers Certification & First Aid.  Previous experience in some phase of aquatics operations and considerable ability as a swimmer plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation and first aid is preferred. Knowledge of principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures is also required. Brief description of work: Safeguard and prevent injury or loss of life, through water rescue and prevention techniques, first aid, and CPR; rule enforcement; variety of maintenance and facility upkeep tasks; activity reporting; participate in staff training.  Must have a commitment to action, leadership and service. Typical schedule: Weekdays, weekends and evenings, May 30 – August 20, approximately 35 hours per week.   Starting rate of pay:  $8.20/hr.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR Qualifications and experience required:   Applicants must have current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and CPR Certification.  Previous experience in some phase of swimming pool work and considerable ability as a swimmer plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation and first aid is desirable. Brief description of work:  Plan and conduct American Red Cross swim lessons; participate in staff training.  Knowledge of swimming stroke principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures is required. Lessons are held mornings, evenings and weekends. Typical schedule: Weekdays, weekends and/or evenings, May30 – August 25, approximately 24 hours per week. Starting rate of pay:  $9.70/hr.
