CURRENT AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

 

PART-TIME FIREFIGHTER/EMT

The City of Mentor Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of part-time firefighter/EMT. Must be a US Citizen or be eligible to legally work in the US, at least 18 years of age, have a valid Ohio Drivers License, High School Diploma or GED. Minimum qualifications include the completion of Ohio Firefighter 1 and EMT Basic training. Firefighter II, Paramedic training along with some experience is preferred. Applicants must successfully complete all hiring requirements. Starting rate of pay: $15.88/hr. Other compensation incentives are available. SEASONAL/TEMP POSITIONS

At this time we are currently seeking individuals for the following seasonal/temp positions: 

LIFEGUARD

Qualifications & Experience: Applicants must have a current American Red Cross /YMCA/ BSA/ or Ellis and Associates Lifesaving Certification, CPR for Professional Rescuers Certification & First Aid. Previous experience in some phase of aquatics operations and considerable ability as a swimmer plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation and first aid is preferred. Knowledge of principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures is also required. Applicants must undergo a background check upon recommendation for hire.
Brief description of work: Safeguard and prevent injury or loss of life, through water rescue and prevention techniques, first aid, CPR; and rule enforcement. A variety of maintenance and facility upkeep tasks is required along with activity reporting. Must participate in staff training and have a commitment to action, leadership and service.
Typical schedule: Weekdays, weekends and evenings, June 2- August 30, approximately 24 hours per week. Hourly rate of pay: $8.05

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

Qualifications & Experience: Must have current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and CPR Certification. Previous experience in some phase of swimming pool work and considerable ability as a swimmer plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation and first aid is desirable. Applicants must undergo a background check upon recommendation for hire.
Brief description of work: Plan and conduct American Red Cross swim lessons; Participate in staff training. Knowledge of swimming stroke principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures is required. Lessons are held mornings, evenings and weekends.
Typical schedule: Weekdays, weekends and/or evenings, June 2-August 30, approximately 24 hours per week. Lifeguard hours are available to those with both certifications. Hourly Rate of pay: $9.55
