CIVIC ARENA MANAGER

The City of Mentor is seeking an experienced individual to manage its Civic Ice Arena facility.  Strong managerial skills and knowledge of the successful operation of a revenue-producing facility are required.  Considerable experience in the day-to-day operation of a municipal recreational facility or a position of similar scope with significant public contact and supervision of a staff is required.   Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills along with the proficient use of Microsoft Office computer programs are required.   Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in recreation administration, business administration or a related field is required.  Starting rate of pay: $56,461/annually (DOQ) plus a comprehensive benefit package.  Employment applications (see below) may be submitted to HRMail3@cityofmentor.com.  Employment applications are also available in the Human Resource Office, Mentor Municipal Center 3rd Floor, 8500 Civic Center Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060. PART-TIME FIREFIGHTER/EMT

The City of Mentor Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of part-time firefighter/EMT. Must be a US Citizen or be eligible to legally work in the US, at least 18 years of age, have a valid Ohio Drivers License, High School Diploma or GED. Minimum qualifications include the completion of Ohio Firefighter 1 and EMT Basic training. Firefighter II, Paramedic training along with some experience is preferred. Applicants must successfully complete all hiring requirements. Starting rate of pay: $15.88/hr. Other compensation incentives are available. SEASONAL/TEMPORARY POSITIONS

FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Qualifications and experience required:   Certified fitness instructor needed for the Mentor Senior Center to teach a variety of classes.  Currently hiring to fill Saturday morning Pilates and strength training class instructors.

Brief description of work:   Provide instruction to group fitness participants ensuring a safe and enjoyable class.

Starting rate of pay:  $12.00/hr. (Depending on qualifications and experience.)

MARINA ASSISTANT OPERATOR

Qualifications and experience required:  Applicant must possess a Forklift Operator Certification, must be a high school graduate/GED and have a valid driver’s license.

Brief description of work:  Responsible for performing work at the Lagoons Nature Preserve and Marina, lifting boats in and out of water and rack storage along with general maintenance of property.

Typical Schedule: Varied work hours, weekend and holiday hours are required.   

Starting rate of pay:  $12.00/hr.

MAINTENANCE AIDE

Qualifications and experience required:  Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be a high school graduate/GED.

Brief description of work:  Perform and assist in the daily maintenance of the cemetery, marina and all parks including but not limited to: mowing, athletic field preparation, turf grass maintenance, playground maintenance, litter and trash pick-up, maintenance of hiking trail, truck and trailer operation and fence repair.  Perform and assist in the daily maintenance of vehicles and equipment.  Work in all weather conditions.

Typical Schedule:  Varied work hours, may work up to 40 hours per week during temporary assignment.

Starting rate of pay:  $8.10/hr.

LIFEGUARD

Qualifications and experience required:  Applicants must have a current American Red Cross/YMCA/ BSA / or Ellis and Associates Lifesaving Certification, CPR for Professional Rescuers Certification & First Aid.  Previous experience in some phase of aquatics operations and considerable ability as a swimmer plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation and first aid is preferred. Knowledge of principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures is also required.

Brief description of work: Safeguard and prevent injury or loss of life, through water rescue and prevention techniques, first aid, and CPR; rule enforcement; variety of maintenance and facility upkeep tasks; activity reporting; participate in staff training.  Must have a commitment to action, leadership and service.

Typical schedule: Weekdays, weekends and evenings, May 30 – August 20, approximately 35 hours per week.   Starting rate of pay:  $8.20/hr.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

Qualifications and experience required:   Applicants must have current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and CPR Certification.  Previous experience in some phase of swimming pool work and considerable ability as a swimmer plus skill in rescue work, resuscitation and first aid is desirable.

Brief description of work:  Plan and conduct American Red Cross swim lessons; participate in staff training.  Knowledge of swimming stroke principles and practices of pool rules, policies and procedures is required. Lessons are held mornings, evenings and weekends.

Typical schedule: Weekdays, weekends and/or evenings, May30 – August 25, approximately 24 hours per week.

Starting rate of pay:  $9.70/hr.
