INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NETWORK ENGINEER
This full-time position is responsible for the design, support and maintenance of the City of Mentor’s information technology infrastructure network and communications systems. Primary responsibilities will be the support and configuration of the LAN/WAN networking environment. Applicants with three or more years of experience working in a complex Cisco network environment and those with experience in at least three of the following areas are preferred:
- Network LAN/WAN topologies
- Networking Protocols (TCP/IP, HSRP, BGP, EIGRP, VOIP, etc.)
- IP Subnetting and VLANs
- Packet capture/analysis tools to evaluate performance issues
- Wireless technology and networking
Qualified candidates will be proficient in verbal and written communication with an emphasis on documentation. Experience working in a fast-paced environment; handling multiple projects; producing quality secure deliverables along with an aptitude for providing excellent customer service.
Examples of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas: Plans, implements, supports and maintains the City LAN/WAN infrastructure equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.), services (VPN, QoS, routing protocols), VoIP/ SIP/ Telecommunications, and other associated items as required.
Assists in overall troubleshooting and performance management of complex network and data systems which may include, but not limited to, network protocol analysis, packet inspection, etc.
Works within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience is required.
- Certifications of CCNA, or higher is strongly preferred, but proven hands-on experience equivalent to a CCNA will be considered.
- Experiences with Cisco and/or Nexus switches as well as Linux and Microsoft technologies, and Layer 2/3 required.
- Proven experience in the ability to independently configure ASA firewalls, Cisco Switches and routers, VoIP systems, and wireless controllers from origination of project.
- This position requires highly specialized knowledge, with 3+ years of hands-on experience in several key areas, including but not limited to:
Cisco infrastructure systems/hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls
LAN/WAN security, routing systems
Deep understanding of networking protocols including but not limited to IPSEC, HSRP, BGP,
EIGRP, OSPF, TPC/IP, VoIP, MPLS, and QOS
– Ability to make informed decisions based on knowledge of various interrelated core systems, and analysis of events
determine the proper course of action.
– Ability to work with discretion when handling confidential information.
– Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
– Attention to details with a high level of accuracy.
– Ability to effectively and efficiently resolve problems.

END-USER SUPPORT TECHNICIAN – PART TIME
The City of Mentor is seeking an individual to work on a part-time basis (approx. 20-25 hours per week) providing assistance in the Information Technology department. Duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating and implementing the City of Mentor’s PC-based software and hardware, assisting all users with related needs and issues, troubleshooting and resolving PC and Local Area Network (LAN) issues, troubleshooting and maintaining printers, installing and configuring component hardware on PCs and laptops, setting up peripherals such as printers or routers, assisting with and implementing projects involving installation of new hardware, organizing and maintaining computer-related assets, including non-deployed hardware, and other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and email systems, be proficient with Microsoft Windows 7 Operating system, have effective verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, possess basic knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, and must be able to lift and maneuver PC tower-type workstations and monitors.

CIVIC ARENA POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The City of Mentor is seeking individuals to fill the following part-time/temporary positions at the Civic Ice Arena:
FACILITY ATTENDANT – Work involves a variety of tasks to assist the arena staff members and the public when utilizing the Civic Ice Arena. Excellent customer service is required. This position is considered temporary as the hours of work required are irregular. Work hours vary and will include evening and weekend hours. Rate of pay: $9.00/hr. High school graduation or GED required.
CASHIER – Job duties include handling front desk transactions at the Civic Ice Arena. Excellent customer service is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is desired. This position is considered temporary as the hours of work required are irregular. Work hours vary and will include evening and weekend hours. Rate of pay: $8.10/hr. High school student, graduation or GED required.
SKATING ATTENDANT – Job duties include the presence on the ice to guard skaters during open skate sessions and other programs. Skating experience is required. This position is considered part-time as the hours of work are regularly scheduled. Hours of work include day, evening and weekends. Rate of pay: $8.10/hr. NATURAL RESOURCE SPECIALIST – PART-TIME
The City of Mentor is seeking a part-time Natural Resource Specialist to perform a wide range of activities in administering the city’s natural resource programs. This position requires considerable knowledge and experience developing and implementing natural resource programs. Duties will include assistance with the white-tailed deer management program, which includes culling activities. Will participate in nuisance Canada goose control, invasive plant control and habitat restoration, habitat monitoring, recreational programming and planning. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate well with the public. Must be able to work a varied schedule comprised of outdoor activities in all weather conditions and office hours 20-25 hours per week. Hourly rate of pay: $15.90 – $23.73 (DOQ). Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in natural resources, ecology, biology, park management, or a related field is preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office software with an emphasis on Excel, and GIS software. High school graduation/GED is required. Must have a valid driver’s license. RESEARCH ASSISTANT – INTERNSHIP
The City of Mentor is seeking an individual to work on a temporary basis providing research assistance in the Economic and Community Development Department primarily working with the International Trade Manager. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software with an emphasis on Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Adobe Publisher. Approximately 20 hours of work per week required, with a flexible schedule. TEMPORARY PART TIME OFFICE ASSISTANT II
This is a temporary, part-time clerical position working approximately 25 hours per week Monday through Friday. Duties include reviewing and exporting Emergency Medical Service reports to the billing vendor for the city and reviewing monthly charge reports for accuracy. Other responsibilities to include data entry, typing, filing, ordering supplies, answering phones and providing information to the public as well as support to chief officers and administrative staff. Computer background with data entry and good math skills required. Experience in Word, Excel and Access. Good interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task. The City of Mentor Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of part-time firefighter/EMT. Must be a US Citizen or be eligible to legally work in the US, at least 18 years of age, have a valid Ohio Drivers License, High School Diploma or GED. Minimum qualifications include the completion of Ohio Firefighter 1 and EMT Basic training. Firefighter II, Paramedic training along with some experience is preferred.
