This event will be one you won’t want to miss! We’ve got many of the details secured and we can already say, WOW – it’s going to be great!
Enjoy incredible live music throughout the weekend
As the festival begins, enjoy the soothing and happy pan drum sounds of Island Jeff. Rock, reggae and your classic Jimmy Buffett favorites will start the festival off right. Next, we’ll help debut the winner of our 2014 Battle of the Bands contest with winners Mixed Elements. Friday night’s main draw will surely be the dueling pianos group Rocket Men! Sing a long and have some fun with classics from artists like Journey, Billy Joel, Elton John, and even Lady Gaga!
Saturday night’s lineup begins with a throwback to the 80’s with the local favorite, big hair band 1988 playing all of your favorite 80’s rock n roll. Saturday’s headline act is the nationally acclaimed, east coast band Sounds of Society, a Chicago tribute band. Saturday In The Park will move to a whole new level with this 9-piece horns, brass and electric guitar band.
Excellent selection of food and beverages
What’s a festival without great food – and boy, have we got you covered. With more than 20 different vendors, we’ll have traditional foods like sausage sandwiches, funnel cakes, lemonade and kettle corn, plus new offerings like fresh fruit shakes, frozen desserts, bbq, coconut shrimp on a stick and more. Enjoy your favorite adult beverages at our expanded Beer & Wine gardens located near the Main Street tent. (Here’s What Is On Tap) Enjoy a chance to win prizes as Hooley House brings their Pub Trivia game to Happy Hour Friday night from 6 – 8 p.m., or try out our new Duck Races or the huge favorite, Plinko! For wine lovers, look for our special drop-in wine tasting event on Saturday from 2 – 5 p.m. featuring a wonderful sampling of wines from the U.S. and abroad. Wine Tasting Flyer 2014
Giant inflatables for kids of all ages will fill the grounds of Civic Center Park. A climbing wall, trampoline, zip line and surf rider are some of the new features you’ll find. Buy a single-day wristband for $5 or a two-day wristband for $8. We’ve also got a special new trackless train – The CityFest Express – that will chug along the bikepaths, and a Dialed Action BMX bike show sure to please the dare devil in all of us.
Giant puppet shows featuring the Mad Cap Puppets performance of The Enchanted World are scheduled, and local performers such as Mentor Top 25 and Mannheim Orchestra will hold top billing on our new community stage. Festival favorites such as indoor laser tag and the Skyhoundz Hyperflite Canine Frisbee contest will also return again this year.
Biggest Parade in Lake County!
The Mentor CityFest parade will kick off Saturday morning at 10 a.m. from Shore Middle School and make its way to the festival grounds via Hopkins, Center Street, Civic Center Blvd. and Munson Rd. The parade features more than 100 groups, the Mentor High School Marching Band, and other family-friendly entries. Parade applications are available here.
In the Main Street tent and the Community Corner areas, festival-goers can visit with the many local businesses, service organizations and non-profits that call Mentor home. In the Midway Games area, try your skills playing a dozen carnival type games run by local service groups and non-profits.
Parking for the festival will be at Mentor High School, Mentor Senior Center, Mentor Fire Station #5, and the Laketran parking lot on Market Street. Handicapped parking for those with permanent Ohio plaques will be at the Mentor High School stadium.
