At 11:00 AM, you’ll hear a steady siren tone for approximately three minutes. This test is part of the local emergency preparedness program conducted to ensure that the sirens around the Perry Power Plant are working properly. Please do not call 911 unless you are having an emergency. WHAT A SIREN CAN SIGNAL Areas around the Perry Plant have emergency sirens. The sirens being tested would sound if there is a recommendation for the public to take protective action such as shelter or evacuation. Sirens would be sounded three times, and each three-minute sounding would be separated by a 30-second break. You may also be warned by loud speakers used by fire and police departments. In the event of an actual emergency, turn on your radio or television and tune to one of the following stations. If you live within 10 miles of the Perry Power Plant and would need transportation or other assistance during an emergency, please contact your county’s emergency management agency or department of emergency services at the appropriate number listed below to make sure you receive the assistance you need. This information will be kept confidential and will only be used to ensure you are provided with help during an emergency. ATTENTION LAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS Sirens in Lake County will be sounded if the National Weather Service issues a TORNADO WARNING for Lake County. Here’s your chance to play in the biggest golf event this winter. Every golfer has played in a summer tournament, but how many have played in January? You’ll play nine snowy, fun holes of golf followed by a warm bowl of chili, hot dogs, and hot chocolate. Golfers will be challenged to drive shots across frozen tundra and putt balls laden with ice. You’ll hit orange golf balls to snow-covered greens on the 9-hole course of 65 – 100 yard holes. Last year more than 200 golfers participated in this event, so you’ll want to register early! Gift certificates for 18 holes will be awarded to the three winning teams. The cost to enter the Chili Open is $20 which includes golf fees, food, and hot chocolate. The local public hearings are scheduled as follows: Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, beginning at 5 p.m. Columbus Metropolitan Library, Driving Park Branch 1422 E. CASE BACKGROUND: WATER Aqua Ohio is seeking to increase its annual revenues for water service in applicable service areas by $13.4 million, or 16.4% over current revenues. On Dec. 16, 2025, PUCO’s staff filed a report which recommends a revenue increase between $8.7 million and $9.9 million, or between 10.63% and 12.14% over current revenues.
