Headlands BeachFest

It’s not your typical day at the beach!
Saturday, July
25, 11 am – 7 pm, Headlands Beach State Park

Our mile-long lakefront will be filled with colorful flying kites, sand castles, live music, strolling performers, kayaking, dancing and tents filled with children’s activities, arts & craft vendors, and food, as we celebrate the arts with elements of wind, water and sand to create the coolest event on Ohio’s longest beach.

You’ll have the chance to make a kite, build a sand castle building contest, try kayaking and paddle boarding, create a beach art project, or just enjoy unique art performances and live music. carl and his sculpture

The highlight of the festival is the return of the Ohio Master Sand Sculpting competition, featuring three of the most skilled sand sculptors in the U.S.  This 2013 BeachFest sculpture shown here, entitled “Night Swallows Sun,” was created by World Champion Carl Jara. At approximately, 8:50 p.m., the setting sun was clearly visible through the center of his sculpture.  See 2014 sculptures here.

Festival goers will also enjoy strolling among the more than 20 arts and craft vendors who will line the paved walkway selling beach glass jewelry, driftwood items, wind chimes, sea shell glass jars, beach-themed paintings, pottery, mosaic vases, sandals, beach bags and more.

And there’s no need to pack a picnic! We’ve got an expanded line up of food trucks and vendors sure to pleasure your palate.

Headlands Beach State Park is located at the northern terminus of OH 44-N at Headlands Road. Take Route 2 and exit at Rt. 44 North.
