Economic Development

Mentor is an exciting pro-business community focused on manufacturing and retail success. A strategic economic development effort has helped tailor services ranging from assistance programs to advanced site selection. Mentor continues to grow and prosper as one of the best places to live, work and play in America. The city was named One of the Best 100 Places to Live by CNN/Money magazine in 2006 and 2010 and one of the Best Places to Retire in Ohio in 2012 by Smart Money magazine.

A quick 25 minute drive from downtown Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie, Mentor is one of Northeast Ohio’s largest communities.

Over 3.3 million square feet of prime retail space is supported by a community of 47,159 and 110,000 within five miles. Over 1,700 companies with more than 32,000 employees, including major corporations, manufacturers, retailers, specialty shops and small businesses are located in Mentor.

Mentor’s manufacturing and retail districts are easily accessible by exits off Interstate 90 at SR 306 & SR615 (Center Street) and SR 2 at SR 306, SR 615 (Center Street) and Heisley Road. Rail service is available off CSX with facilities in Cleveland, and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is easily accessible via the interstate system.
