As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Waste Management is modifying waste collections in all of its service territories for the protection of their employees including Mentor. As a result, only trash or recyclables placed in their respective Waste Management containers will be collected until further notice.
This means that extra trash bags, bundles of waste, yard waste, and bulk items (Furniture, carpet, mattresses, appliances, etc.) will not be collected. For those few households that do not currently have a Waste Management receptacle one will be provided.
Mentor residents can drop off yard waste free-of-charge beginning Monday, April 6th at Eleanor B. Garfield Park, located at 7967 Mentor Ave, until regular curbside pickup service is restored. The drop-off location will be open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and will accept the same materials that are set out curbside. No plastic bags. No commercial drop-off.
The Lake County Landfill has advised that they are discouraging unnecessary drop-offs by residential customers at this time. Please keep all bulky or special wastes until Waste Management resumes full service. Contact the Landfill at 440-350-2644 with any questions.
The City is working with Waste Management to provide a billing credit to our residents for this temporary loss of service and we look forward to full service being restored as soon as possible.
UPDATE: This article has been updated to indicate yard waste drop off location and landfill policy change.
