Mentor Job Report

The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor decreased 0.5% to 3.3% for the month of August 2024. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.0%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate decreased 0.7% to 3.5% for the month of August; one year prior, it was 3.2%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor and Lakewood have the lowest unemployment rate with 3.3%, Parma has the next lowest rate at 3.7%, Kettering has the third lowest rate with 3.9%, and Cuyahoga Falls and Cleveland Heights have the fourth lowest rate at 4.0%, and Columbus has the fifth lowest rate at 4.2%. The City’s civilian labor force decreased 300 to 27,300.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.7% to 4.2% for the month of August 2024. The rate for the State was 3.6% in August 2023.
