Work on the Mentor Harbor Bridge Demolition Project commonly known as the “Bridge to Nowhere” is scheduled to begin on or about October 20, 2014 according to the City of Mentor.
This project will remove the 186 foot long Mentor Harbor Bridge which is currently standing over a portion of the Mentor Lagoons. A temporary haul road will be constructed, maintained and removed to facilitate the demolition work.
Actual removal of the bridge is scheduled to begin on November 3, 2014 and should last between 4 to 6 weeks. During the bridge removal phase the channel will be closed to boat traffic.
The scheduled completion date for the demolition phase of the project is December 15, 2014. The removal of the haul road will be performed in the spring and the completion date for the restoration is June 12, 2015. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM Monday through Friday.
