Mentor Fire Lieutenant Don Zimmerman was honored with the “Frank Giampetro Distinguished EMS Educator Award” by the Ohio Department of Safety’s Division of Emergency Medical Services.
The award was presented in at a ceremony in Columbus on May 18th.
Mentor Deputy Chief, Kevin Edmond, expressed his pleasure in nominating Zimmerman due to his dedication to public education.
“Don is a selfless person who has contributed to education of children, parents, and EMS providers in the City of Mentor.” He adds, “ Many of his accomplishments include management of the Mentor Fire Safety Village, SIDS Education Program, and the Water Safety Education Trailer, just to name a few.”
The award is presented annually by the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians to recognize a dynamic educator who has made notable contributions to the EMS system.
Eligible candidates must be actively involved with the EMS care delivery system.
