superboat250Festivities revolving around the Inaugural Park Ohio SuperBoat Grand Prix will be taking place August 26-28 in the City of Mentor.

Here are a couple of things you’ll want to know about if you live in the area.

ROAD CLOSURES
Headlands Road will be closed from SR-44 to Jordan Drive from 8 AM to 7 PM on race day, Sunday, August 28, 2016. Local traffic will have to exit the Headlands area via Corduroy Road.

RACE COURSE
The course will extend from Headlands Beach State Park to approximately Brooksdale. If you have beach access, you should have a pretty good view from anywhere in between. Enjoy the race!

PADDLING RESTRICTIONS
Superboats can travel at up to 200 MPH. Due to safety concerns, kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing and kite surfing will not be permitted near the course on August 27th and 28th as per the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

MENTOR LAGOONS ACCESS
Mentor Lagoons is being used as the launch point for the boats during time trials on Saturday, August 27,2016 and during the race on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Dockers, and their guests, will have access to their docks. There will be no public access to the boat staging area. The nature preserve will be open to visitors.

POLICE ESCORTS / TRAFFIC NOTICE
Motorists may experience some temporary delays along SR-84, SR-615, Hopkins Road north of Plains Road, and the area of Lakeshore Blvd. between Hopkins Road and Harbor Drive August 27th and August 28th as boat trailers are escorted by police to-and-from the dry pit area located at Great Lakes Mall.
