Bicycle Helmet Program
Mentor Police offers mini-toddler to adult-large bicycle helmets at a cost of just $9 each through a partnership with Greater Cleveland Safe Kids Coalition, and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Call 440-974-5760 to learn more.
Child Safety Seat Inspections
To keep our children safe in motor vehicles, Mentor Police provide free child safety seat inspections. Call 440-974-5760 to schedule your inspection appointment.
CPR / AED training
The Mentor Fire Department hosts certified CPR classes for medical professionals and the public. $35 for Mentor residents and $45 for nonresidents. Call 440- 974-5765 for schedule & additional info.
Home Safety Survey
70-point inspection which covers a variety of items including; fire safety, trip hazards, poisons, child safety, HVAC inspection, smoke and CO detectors, emergency planning and more. Home safety surveys available free of charge to Mentor residents. Call 440-974-5765 for additional information.
Resident Well Check
For residents with special medical needs, transportation and/or communication issues, or no nearby friends or relatives that they can count on to check on them during extended power outages. Call Nina Lombardo-Mylott at 440-974-5760 to register.
Residential Lockbox Program
Recommended for senior citizens and disabled residents. The Residential Lock Box Program enables Fire/EMS/Police to gain access to your home if you are unable to open the door. One-time $35 installation fee. For additional information, call 440-974-5768.
Senior Blood Pressure Check
Residents may stop in at any Mentor fire station for a free blood pressure check. If you are physically unable to get to a fire station, call 440-974-5765 to request a home blood pressure check.
Smoke Detector Replacement Program
A program for Seniors, the disabled, or those who cannot afford smoke detectors. If your smoke detectors are over ten years-old, the Fire Department will install new smoke detectors with a 10-year battery with photoelectric sensors at no cost to qualifying residents. Call 440-974-5768 for details.
