Residents are advised that as part of the Mentor Marsh restoration, on May 2nd, the Ohio EPA will be taking samples from the field northeast of Deer Ridge Road (known as the Salt Fill Site).  Contractors will use a Rotosonic drill, which is about the size of a truck, to sample forty feet below the surface.  The purpose of the sampling is to determine the characteristics, quality and depth of the salt that was placed there in the 1965.

This information will be used to determine if any of the material can be reused or how it should be disposed.
