The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) will host two Open Houses along with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) on transportation projects proposed for federal funding under the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
NOACA is the designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria urbanized areas and is responsible for developing a federally mandated Long-Range Plan (LRP) that stresses the importance of preserving and enhancing the existing transportation system, while promoting investment in a connected multimodal network. The TIP implements projects proposed under NOACA’s Long-Range Plan.
The TIP, historically updated every two years, includes a list of transportation projects to be implemented over the next four years using federal-aid funds. Overall, hundreds of projects will be implemented, totaling more than $2.7 billion. Roadway projects proposed for funding include safety, road, bridge, and bicycle/pedestrian improvements. Transit projects proposed for funding include rail infrastructure, facilities improvements, equipment/operations support, and revenue vehicle replacements.
Local communities, county engineers, ODOT, transit operators, and other sponsors proposed project funding for State fiscal years 2024-2027. Projects can range from road resurfacing and reconstruction to transit and bicycle facilities, traffic calming, and traffic signal upgrades.
