The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increased 0.4% to 3.8% for the month of May 2024. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.0%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 0.2% to 3.9% for the month of May; one year prior, it was 3.3%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor and Lakewood have the lowest unemployment rate with 3.8%, Parma has the next lowest rate at 4.2%, Cuyahoga Falls and Kettering have the third lowest rate with 4.3%, and Cleveland Heights has the fourth lowest rate at 4.4%. The City’s civilian labor force remained at 26,600.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 0.4% to 4.6% for the month of May 2024. The rate for the State was 3.3% in May 2023.
