For over 60 years, the music of Pink Floyd has touched people’s lives through their extended compositions, sonic experiments, philosophical lyrics, and elaborate live shows.
Northeast Ohio based Dark Side of the Moon has been recreating the sights and sounds of Pink Floyd for over 15 years and will make their Mentor Rocks return on August 19, 2025. We caught up with bandleader Jeff Tucker to get an idea what’s in store.
What inspired you to start Dark Side of the Moon?
The funny thing is that there are no original members in the band.
How long has DSOTM been together?
Dark Side of the Moon has been around for over 15 years; the core of this band has been together for five years.
What’s your favorite onstage moment?
When we stop singing and we can hear the crowd singing – lighters (phones) in the air.
What’s your favorite Pink Floyd song to perform?
Has to be Comfortably Numb or Wish You Were Here or Time or Shine on You Crazy Diamond or Money or…
What are you looking forward to for your Aug 19 Mentor Rocks date?
Our first time at Mentor was at the old facility; since then, what you have built, not just physically but also communally, is absolutely awesome. You have arguably one of the best venues in NE Ohio and the greatest fans to go with it. We can’t wait to perform for them again.
What can fans expect to see?
Since our last show in Mentor, we have added a lot of additional lighting production, making it arguably the largest, band-owned light show of any Pink Floyd tribute in the country. In addition to the visual aspect, we will be hitting plenty of everyone’s favorite songs as well as a few deep cuts for the discerning fan.
Do you have another side gig? What else do you do?
We are a diverse group of musicians; unfortunately, we all have day gigs – contractor, attorney (retired), nerd, mechanic, pre-med student, etc.
Are you involved in any other musical projects?
As musicians, we are always playing around in different projects (country, rock, tribute, jazz, solo/duo); some of the more serious/notable ones include Bronx Country, Moving in Stereo – Cars Tribute, and Rough BoyZZ – ZZ Top tribute. All of which play at your favorite venues around NE Ohio.
Any other message for the fans?
The love, support, and energy that we received from you the last time we were here was amazing. We can’t wait to see you all again.
