On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, detectives from the Mentor Police Department and the Lake County Bomb Squad were dispatched to a unit in the Heatherstone Condominiums complex located at 6400 Center Street to investigate a report on the suspicion of illegal fireworks production.
A search warrant was executed, and a thorough search of the premises was conducted. Several small bags of homemade fireworks, as well as compounds and chemicals used to make fireworks, were seized.
Charges will be pending upon completion of the investigation.

Mentor Police are currently on scene at the Heatherstone Condominiums complex located at 6400 Center Street investigating the potential manufacture and/or storage of illegal fireworks in one of the units. Nearby residents have been notified. The Lake County Bomb Squad is staged to remove any incendiary materials that may be found. Please avoid the area.
