Mentor City SealThe City of Mentor is well-prepared to meet the needs of our community as the COVID-19 virus (often referred to as the Coronavirus) spreads in Northeast Ohio.  Although no cases have been confirmed yet in Lake County, health officials agree it is likely present.   In cooperation with federal, state, and local jurisdictions, as well as regional health systems, plans and resources are in place to meet the needs of our residents as this health threat heightens.   Local safety forces and health officials regularly rehearse procedures and scenarios of this type and are experienced in understanding resident needs from past similar events.

The City of Mentor is committed to serving our residents. Municipal facilities will remain open and we will continue to conduct the day-to-day operations required to manage our community needs.

We will also abide to all mandates by the State of Ohio and prudent recommendations of our health agencies, which will have an impact on many activities.  If you have signed up for a class, activity, or rental please contact the Parks & Recreation Department for status of any applicable refunds.

Our facilities are public spaces. In the interest of the health and safety of both the public as well as our employees, we are taking the following steps:

  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfectant procedures are in place in all public buildings, to include periodic disinfection of all hard surfaces and contact points (such as switches, handrails, and door handles)
  • Visitors are asked to minimize personal contact by maintaining six feet of personal space when possible, and to either wash their hands or utilize hand sanitizer as they enter the buildings
  • We ask that any business that can be conducted by phone or email be done so to reduce personal contact

It is incumbent upon all of us to care for the safety and well-being of those in our community. Please do not enter municipal facilities if you aren’t feeling well or if you, or someone close to you, have been to countries on the CDC Watch List.

Please reconsider entering municipal facilities if you are over the age of 50 and/or have underlying chronic medical conditions that include Heart Disease, Diabetes, or Lung Disease. You have a much higher risk to your health from COVID-19 and other diseases.

The City will continue to closely monitor and adapt to the situation with our local, state, and national partners.
