Headlands BeachFest Sand Sculpture

Headlands Beach Fest is a family-friendly event which celebrates the elements of wind, water, and sand on Ohio’s longest beach.

Headlands BeachFest returns to the Headlands Beach State Park on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  The “ultimate beach party” features all-day entertainment, hands-on activities, food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and is highlighted by the Ohio Master Sand Sculpting Competition.

First held in 2014, BeachFest attracts upwards of 15,000 visitors annually from across Northeast Ohio as well as surrounding states.

This year’s Ohio Master Sand Sculpting Competition will feature three world champion sand sculptors who will build their larger-than-life creations over three days.  Work will begin on Thursday, July 14th and will be completed sometime during the afternoon of the event when BeachFest attendees will have the opportunity to vote for and crown the winner of this year’s competition.

Kids of all ages will also have plenty of opportunity to get their hands dirty as well by competing in the Family Sandcastle Building Contest.

Entertainment will include DJ Stray, Art Acts Parade of Color, Jasmine Dragons acrobatic performance team, and others. Meet and take a picture with Moana from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Other attractions include a face painter, craft activities with the Mentor Public Library and Horizon Day care, and a 30-ft inflatable slip and slide. The first 500 kids get a free kite.

Some of the area’s favorite food trucks, including Jilly Jean’s, Jackpot Chicken, Barra De Taco, Fuoco Fire Pizza, Hunger Squad, Classic Kettler Corn, Snowie Daze, Island Delights, East Coast Custard, and Forgotten Fruits will be onsite selling their tasty treats.

Arts and crafts vendors will also be on hand selling a variety of beach-themed items.

Headlands BeachFest is presented by University Hospitals and sponsored by MeijerMutsko Insurance, and Mimi Vanderhaven.

Headlands Beach State Park is located at 9601 Headlands Road. Admission and parking to this event are free.
