Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) logoDue to the COVID-19 pandemic walk-in taxpayer assistance at their Mentor regional office in the Mentor Municipal Center is unavailable, but you can still connect with the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) for assistance.

RITA has simplified the online filing process with its FastFile and MyAccount options.  Both are available at RITAOhio.com. Individuals can also mail in completed tax returns.  A third option is to visit one of RITA’s offices in Brecksville, Cleveland Heights, Youngstown, or Worthington, where taxpayers can drop off either a completed return or uncompleted tax documents in a secure RITA drop box.  Drop boxes are available 24/7 and located outside of each office.  RITA asks individuals using the drop box service to complete the Municipal Income Tax Drop-Off Sheet (which can also be found at RITAOhio.com) or provide contact information with the dropped-off documents.

RITA is offering a Drive-up Drop-off service at its Brecksville location during regular business hours.  Without leaving their car, individuals can pull in, and hand their completed return or uncompleted tax documents to a RITA agent.  Even if tax documents are unfinished, RITA will complete them for the taxpayer.

All returns that are e-filed, postmarked or dropped off by July 15th will avoid late filing penalties.

RITA will also offer extended Call Center hours to make it easier to contact them by phone. Extended hours include:

Saturday July 11th – 9:00 AM to Noon
Monday July 13th – 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Tuesday July 14th – 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Wednesday July 15th – 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Taxpayers with questions can call 800-860-7482 during Call Center hours. The deadline to file City taxes is July 15, 2020.
