The corrections unit, managed by supervisor Nick Iliano, is responsible for the safety and security of all prisoners.  The Mentor City Jail is staffed 24 hours per day by six full-time Correction Officers, one part-time Corrections Officer, and one supervising Corrections Officer.  These officers are trained specifically in the area of corrections.  Medical conditions, meals, clothing, visitation, and work release are all monitored by the staff.

The Mentor City Jail complies with current jail standards that are mandated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and the Bureau of Adult Detention.  The Mentor Jail is also inspected annually by the Lake County Department of Health and the Mentor Fire Department.

Prisoners may be visited by their attorney or a member of the clergy at reasonable times.  All personal visits are limited as follows:  from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M, seven days a week.  A prisoner may have one 20-minute visit by one adult (over age 18) in a 72-hour period.  Visitors must provide a photo identification card prior to being admitted to the visitation room.
