beachfest250Looking for something fun to do with the kids this summer? Then don’t miss “the ultimate beach party”.  Now in its third year, Headlands BeachFest is an all-day celebration of wind, water and sand.

BeachFest will be held on Saturday, July 25th from 11 am to 7 pm and will feature live entertainment, activities, food trucks, nature tours, and arts-and-crafts vendors.

Entertainment will be provided on stage as well as on the beach, and will include live music by three area bands, acrobats, fire dancers, performance artists, a fashion show and more.

Recreation Superintendent Paul Hegreness is excited about this year’s Headlands BeachFest.

“Once again we have three world champion sand sculptors competing for the title of “Ohio’s Master Sand Sculptor,” says Hegreness. He adds, “BeachFest is a great way to spent a very special day at the beach at little to no cost, enjoy great food, shop at over 25 arts and crafts vendors, be amazed at the world champion sand sculptors  and listen to fun beach music.”

Families can compete in a sandcastle building contest as well as try their hands at watersports. Kayak and paddleboard rentals will also be available along with a windsurf simulator and a mechanical shark ride.  Nearly a dozen food vendors will be on hand offering everything from wood fired pizza to gourmet cupcakes.

Naturalists from the Cleveland Natural History Museum, City of Mentor, and Ohio Department of Natural History will be on hand for fun and informative programs and tours of the nearby dunes.

Admission and parking is free. Headlands Beach State Park is located at 9601 Headlands Rd, Mentor, OH 44060.
