Mentor Police will be hosting their fifth annual Fill-a-Cruiser Food Drive on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  The food drive will be held at two locations this year; Giant Eagle located at 7960 Plaza Boulevard and NJP Construction located at 9100 Tyler Boulevard in Mentor.

“This year we are happy to announce that we added a second food collection. The food and money collected goes back into the community that we serve to help those who might be in need of a little extra holiday cheer,” says Detective Steve Ondercin.

Last year, generous shoppers helped fill two police SUVs and donated over $1,555.02 bringing the four-year total to $5,269.00.

Donated food is distributed to food pantries to benefit families within the City of Mentor.  Money collected is used to support Mentor’s Kops-N-Kids program.

The Kops-N-Kids program is a volunteer program started in 1983 that provides holiday gifts for kids in need. The program accepts outside donations and holds an annual golf outing to raise funds for the program.  Families are identified with the help of the Mentor School System, the Mentor’s Victim’s Assistance program as well as police officers themselves.
