TRAFFIC ALERT

The Lake Health Northern Ohio Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2013 beginning at 7:30 am. The race begins in Fairport Harbor and enters Mentor at Lake Shore Blvd and SR. 44. The race continues W/B on Lake Shore Blvd.; the half marathon will turn N/B on Corduroy Rd. and the full marathon will continue W/B on Lake Shore Blvd. to S/B Hopkins Rd. They will continue to Rosewood Ln. and Hopkins Rd. and enter the bike/running trail.

Runners will continue W/B on Market St., crossing Center St. and continue W/B on Bellflower Rd. They will turn N/B on Reynolds Rd. continuing into Mentor on the Lake. The runners will re-enter the city on Lake Shore Blvd. at the west city limits and continue to Harbor Dr., running through the Mentor Lagoons and out to the Headlands residential area. They will run E/B on Jordan Dr. making their way to Headlands State Park and back to Fairport Harbor for the finish.

Temporary road closures will occur at the following locations:

• W/B Lake Shore Blvd, between Sr. 44 and Corduroy Rd., from approximately 7:45 am to 8:45 am., eastbound Lake Shore will remain open.

• Jordan Dr., E/B will be closed from approximately 7:45 am until 12:00 pm.

• The W/B lane of Market St. will be closed however two-way traffic will be maintained with traffic cones.

• Traffic cones will be placed on Bellflower Rd. to accommodate two-way traffic and provide an area for the runners to utilize on the north side of the street.

• The right lane of N/B Reynolds Rd., from Bellflower Rd. to Lake Shore Blvd. will be closed but the left N/B lane will remain open.

Police Officers will be posted at all of the main intersections to assist with traffic control. Volunteers will be placed at other side street locations to assist the runners with the race. Several water and first aid stations will be set up along the race route.

Please slow down and use caution when approaching any runners on the road. Finally, the race organizers request residents living along the route to come out and encourage and cheer the runners as they pass.
