A senior woman's hand holds out a tomato. The Lake County Council on Aging (LCCoA) will once again be a distribution agent for the Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

The SFMNP provides limited income seniors with ten $5 coupons (a $50 value) that can be exchanged for eligible foods at area farmers’ markets. The purpose of this program is to improve the nutritional health of seniors with limited income and to increase business for local farmers throughout Ohio.

To be eligible for this program in Lake County, you must be a Lake County resident, age 60 or older, with an annual income (from all sources) of less than $25,142 for a household of one and $33,874 for a household of two.

Pre-registration is required for the program. To pre-register, call the Lake County Council on Aging starting on Monday, June 13, 2022, at (440)205-8111.

When you pre-register, you will be given a choice of four different timeslots over a two-day period to pick up your coupons:

  • Wednesday, June 29: 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Wednesday, June 29: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Thursday, June 30: 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Thursday, June 30: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Coupons will be distributed at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Ave. in Mentor.

Seniors who apply for the program will need to obtain an application on the day of coupon distribution from the LCCoA website or a local senior center. Applications will not be accepted prior to your chosen date and timeslot. At the time of distribution, all applications will be reviewed on-site to ensure SFMNP requirements are met.

Additionally, if you are unable to attend a distribution timeslot or need assistance with shopping, you may have a proxy attend on your behalf, provided your application is signed by both you and your proxy.
