There will be beards!
Members of the media are invited to join us at the Garfield Gallop 5K Run & Walk to be held on Sunday, July 24th at 8:30 AM at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site located at 8095 Mentor Ave, Mentor, OH 44060.
275 participants are signed up as of 3:30 PM today. We should be in the 350 range by step off.
Participants of this presidential-themed race will receive a custom racing bib, t-shirt, participation medal and a costume beard to wear at the start of the race. The Top 3 finishers among men and women will receive a top-hat.
A photo opp will be set up just prior to the run in front of the mansion.
James and Lucretia Garfield re-enactors will be on hand to start the race and provide a healthy dose of hometown history – PLUS, participants and their supporters will also have the opportunity to view the Garfield home free of charge during a special open house event immediately following the race.

We think this will be a fun and colorful close to what has been a very positive RNC experience in Cleveland.
