Mentor City Council held their biannual organizational meeting on January 9, 2024.

Ward 1 Councilperson Sean P. Blake, Ward 2 Councilperson Matthew E. Donovan, and Ward 4 Councilperson John A. Krueger were sworn-in by City Law Director Joseph P. Szeman.  Ward 3 Councilperson Mark T. Freeman was sworn-in by Lake County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey W. Ruple. All four terms expire December 31, 2027.

Ward 1 Councilperson Blake was elected President of Council and Ward 4 Councilperson Krueger was elected Vice-President of Council. Both will serve a two-year term in their respective roles.

A number of appointments were made to Mentor boards and commissions.

Richard Zaleski and Alexander Koenig were appointed to serve four-year terms on the Board of Building & Zoning Appeals ending December 31, 2027.

Geoffrey Varga was appointed to serve a four-year term on the Municipal Planning Commission ending December 31, 2027.

Frank Krupa, Theresa Simon, and Joanna Orgovan were appointed to serve three-year terms on the Community Arts Commission ending December 31, 2026.

Anthony Zampedro was appointed to serve a three-year term on the Fair Housing Board ending December 31, 2026.

Mari McConnell was appointed to serve a four-year term on the tree commission ending December 31, 2027.

Steven Ammerman and Kenneth Stopek were appointed to serve two-year terms on the Income Tax Board of Review ending December 31, 2025.
