Mentor Patrolman Dan Shaw received the “Distinguished Service Award” from the Lake County Association of Chiefs of Police on June 1st. Officer Shaw disregarded imminent personal hazard to his life in his rescue and lifesaving attempt of an Aqua Ohio worker who was trapped in a collapsed construction trench on Heisley Road on March 29th.
Detectives Matthew Alvord and Detective Michael Fuduric recently received the “Departmental Excellence Awards” for their exceptional work and contribution while assigned to the Mentor Retail Theft detail. The program targets retail theft rings and is part of Mentor’s ongoing effort to combat the opiate abuse problem in the community.
