Mentor has received a Community Development Grant from the Ohio EPA to stimulate recycling efforts in the city.
The grant will be used to multiply recycling opportunities within Mentor parks and facilities, including Black Brook Golf Course and the Mentor Lagoons Marina and Nature Preserve. It will also be used to bolster awareness of the importance of recycling.
“You’ll see new recycling bins located throughout the park system, particularly on trails, near ball fields, as well as parking lots,” says Nick Mikash, Mentor Natural Resources Specialist.
Part of the grant will help fund educational programs offered by the Earth Mentors, whose mission it is to promote a greener lifestyle. The group provides educational programs throughout the course of the year at city sponsored events.
“We’re very pleased to receive this grant and we’re looking forward to putting it to good use throughout the city,” says Mikash.
The total amount of grant is $20,648.00.
