The unemployment rate in January 2024 for the City of Mentor remained at 3.5% and in January 2023, the unemployment rate was 3.4%. For Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 1.3% to 4.2% in January 2024 and one year prior, it was 4.0%.

Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, Mentor and Lakewood have the lowest unemployment rate with 3.5%, Columbus and Kettering have the next lowest rate at 3.7%. Cleveland Heights has the third lowest rate with 3.8% followed by Cuyahoga Falls with 4.2%. The City’s civilian labor force remained at 26,300.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate increased 1.1% to 4.2% in January 2024. The rate for the State was 4.2% in January 2023.
