The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increased by 0.2% to 5.5% for the month of August 2017. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 4.6%.  In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased to 5.9%.

The City of Mentor’s unemployment rate was the seventh lowest among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more; Columbus (4.4%) and Kettering (4.5%) had the lowest unemployment rate followed by Cuyahoga Falls (4.8%), Hamilton (5.0%), Cincinnati (5.3%) and Springfield (5.4%).  The City’s civilian labor force declined to 26,500.

The State of Ohio’s unemployment rate decreased 0.2% to 5.3% for the month of August; 0.5% more than one year ago.
