A unique new healthcare option is now available in Mentor. Canterbury House Direct Primary Care, founded by Dr. Sarah Watson, DO, makes medical care simple, thoughtful, and easy to access. The practice brings back relationship-centered medicine that values people and fits real life. Dr. Watson believes that these relationships are at the heart of good healthcare. Understanding what matters to patients and families helps to guide their health journeys.

This led her to open a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice. With a straightforward monthly membership, patients get direct access to their doctor, longer visits, and more personal care, free from typical insurance rules and hospital limits. The membership model removes these usual barriers, letting patients reach out easily, therefore allowing doctors to focus on what’s truly is best for each person.

Dr. Sarah Watson was born and raised in Mentor. She achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition from The Ohio State University, and then a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Ohio University. She chose osteopathic medicine because it treats the whole person and supports the body’s natural healing. She also loved its hands-on approach to care. She became board certified in Family Medicine from the University of Montana and began her career out west, where she worked like an old-fashioned family doctor—caring for all ages, delivering babies, handling hospital visits, doing in-office procedures, and building strong family connections. When Dr. Watson started her own family, a return to Mentor felt right both personally and professionally. She simply states, “Mentor is home”, and this meant that her children could grow up near grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even their great-grandmother.

The name Canterbury House honors the family home her grandfather built for her grandmother Lucy, who raised seven children there. It later became the house where Dr. Watson made memories—a place of connection, resilience, and care that now shapes her practice. Utilizing the membership model of healthcare means that costs at Canterbury House are simple and predictable. Most needed services are included in the monthly fee with no surprise bills. Any extra service is explained clearly upfront and first-time visitors are greeted by Dr. Watson herself. She states, “We will be familiar with your health history before you come in and we will be prepared. We will take however much time we need and try to cover everything on your list and mine in one setting.” Visitors have commented on how beautiful and relaxed the atmosphere is as well, which is sometimes foreign in a healthcare setting.

Dr. Watson is excited to bring high-quality, relationship-based care across the greater Mentor community. Canterbury House Direct Primary Care, located at 8500 Station Street; Suite 270, is more than a medical practice – it’s Dr. Sarah Watson’s commitment to thoughtful, personal healthcare. For families in Mentor and nearby areas, it offers a simpler and more supportive way to stay healthy.

We thank Canterbury House for their investment in our community and wish them much future success.
