Mentor firefighters to resume collection at Great Lakes Mall on November 19th & 20th.
For 25 consecutive years, Mentor Firefighter/Paramedic Dominic Vivolo and Lieutenant Mike Smith gathered their trusted team of firefighters, as well as family and friends, to brave the elements and help those in need in Lake County. That is, until the COVID pandemic forced the cancellation of their annual food drive along with everything else in 2020.
Since 1994, over $150,000 in cash and food donations have been raised and the duo is ready to get back on track.
The 2021 Mentor Fire Rescue the Needy Food Drive will take place on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM near the northeast entrance of the Great Lakes Mall by Barnes and Noble. Cash and non-perishable food donations will be accepted.
“The past year has been difficult for everyone, but the financial impact of the pandemic has been disastrous for many in our community,” says Vivolo, “it’s important to us to help our friends and neighbors right here in Lake County.”
100% of proceeds from the Rescue the Needy Food Drive will directly benefit the Salvation Army Painesville Corps which serves Lake County. Donations stay in the community in which they are received to help serve those most in need.
“We thank the public for the continued support over the past 25 years and hope they can come out again strong this year,” adds Smith.
The Great Lakes Mall is located at 7850 Mentor Avenue.
