Little did Daniela Sciannameo know that her business journey was about to begin when she discovered Pilates while on vacation in Costa Rica 25 years ago. An avid fitness buff, she instantly recognized that Pilates offered “something more”.  A few years later, she received her training certificate and started Pilates on Demand, traveling to schools, offices, and even beach clubs to teach class in our area.

Over the next ten years, she developed her own style and developed a program for all ages and fitness levels. Barre2Pilates was founded in 2013 and ultimately moved to its current Mentor location in 2020.

Barre2Pilates offers a combination of barre fitness and Mat Pilates combined with light weights and balance work. All class routines change with different choreography and equipment, such as resistance bands, Pilates rings and sponge balls.

New students can expect a bright and welcoming space and are asked about specific wellness goals and what they expect to achieve in terms of balance, strength, flexibility, and more, so that a customized fitness plan can be developed.

Students range in age from 18-73 and all fitness levels so you’ll never feel awkward in class. Over the past 23 years, she has taught upwards of 11,000 classes to hundreds of women.

When asked why she chose Mentor, she said, “Because of its location. I have students coming in from Chardon, Concord, Willoughby, and Mayfield and Gates Mills.  It’s the perfect center point. I have plenty of parking, my location is well lit and easy to find.”

As for future plans, she says “I look forward to growing my business. Mine is the only authentic barre and Pilates studio in Lake County. I’m proud of my standing and reputation.”

Daniela is very passionate about teaching and loves to share her excitement of Barre with her students! Daniela holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and is Pilates and Barre certified through the National Trainer’s Exercise Association.

The city of Mentor thanks Barre2Pilates for their investment in our community and wish them continued success in the future.
