In 2019, the City of Mentor acquired approximately 200 acres of land through a lawsuit settlement. The property is located within the city of Painesville along Brookstone Blvd., which is an extension of Diamond Centre Drive. Mentor is considering selling all or a portion of the property for conservation projects, which would reforest and create wetland areas that support downstream water quality leading into the Mentor Marsh. Another option is to sell the property for commercial development, which could result in tax revenue shared with the city of Painesville but also increase traffic on Diamond Center and require infrastructure improvements.
