The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that more than 269 people were senselessly killed nationwide in crashes involving drunk drivers during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday from 2007 to 2011. Those fatalities were preventable.

The Mentor Police Department will be targeting impaired drivers from March 14 thru March 17.  During this time, additional patrol units will be working in the city looking for and arresting impaired drivers. If drivers are found to be under the influence they will be arrested.

The Mentor Police Department wants to remind drivers that when you drink, drink responsibly, and pass your keys to a sober driver. Have a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day.
