When: 11:00 am - 11:03 am Where: Lake County, OH, USA Local emergency sirens in Lake, western Ashtabula, and northern Geauga counties will be tested to make sure the sirens are in good working order. At 11:00 AM, you’ll hear a steady siren tone for approximately three minutes. This test is part of the local emergency preparedness program conducted to ensure that the sirens around the Perry Power Plant are working properly. Please do not call 911 unless you are having an emergency. WHAT A SIREN CAN SIGNAL Areas around the Perry Plant have emergency sirens. The sirens being tested would sound if there is a recommendation for the public to take protective action such as shelter or evacuation. Sirens would be sounded three times, and each three-minute sounding would be separated by a 30-second break. You may also be warned by loud speakers used by fire and police departments.
