You’ve probably noticed that Cleveland Furniture Company now occupies the Kronheim’s location at 7590 Mentor Avenue.
Kronheim’s ownership decided to retire and reached out to Paul Cirino to gauge his interest in taking over the location. Cirino jumped at the chance. When asked why, he remarked, “We really coveted this location. You’ve got to be on Mentor Avenue. Especially if you’re selling furniture, right?”
The transition occurred in October with little fanfare. In fact, the doors never actually closed as they continued to serve the customers who have been coming here for decades. The staff are currently in the process of updating the look of the store as well as their offerings as they prepare for their official Grand Opening in February.
Cirino isn’t new to the industry. He got his start when he was just 8-years old, assembling furniture and accessories in his father’s furniture supply business which had been supplying stores since the early 1970s.
He and his partners delved into retail a few years ago following the retirement of the owners of Basista Furniture, by taking over the locations and retaining the staff. Kronheim’s liked what they saw and asked him to do the same.
So, how does an old-school, family-owned business survive in the digital age? By adapting.
While many of the local heritage brands have slowly disappeared, Cleveland Furniture is seeking to leverage their buying power. Over the past four decades, they have grown to be a major supplier throughout the Great Lakes region and even supply WayFair and Amazon. Now with their retail locations, they look forward to selling directly to the customers they have already been serving for years.
And, they offer a little bit of something for everyone with styles ranging from classic to contemporary. One thing you’ll immediately notice is the array of unique one-of-a-kind pieces set amongst their full line of furniture.
