James A. Garfield National Historic Site is pleased to announce summer operating hours and a limited reopening of the Garfield home, beginning Tuesday, June 1. Summer hours will be seven days per week, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Garfield home will be re-opened for reservation-only guided tours. CDC and Ohio Department of Health restrictions are still in effect, so tours will be limited to one per hour from 10:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. until further notice. A maximum of seven visitors will be permitted per tour, and only one tour at a time will be allowed inside the home. Reservations are required and must be made by phoning the site at (440) 255-8722. Site staff will begin taking phone reservations on June 1. The site’s phone line will be staffed daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. beginning June 1.
To protect the health of those who live in, work in, and visit our national parks and facilities, and in support of the President’s Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing, face masks are now required in all National Park Service (NPS) buildings and facilities. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, such as narrow or busy trails, overlooks, and parking lots.
The entrance fee for James A. Garfield National Historic Site is $10.00 per person for those 16 and over; 15 and under are free. This includes touring the home. Holders of the America the Beautiful-National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Pass, including the Annual, Senior, Active Military, and Access Passes are admitted free of charge, along with three other adult guests. The visitor center museum, grounds, and park film are available to all free of charge.
“We’re excited to get back to seven-day-a-week operations and to start safely taking small groups back into the Garfield home,” said Site Manager Todd Arrington. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we try to balance taking visitors into the home with the required safety precautions.”
