The tax filing deadline is this Tuesday, April 18th. Residents are advised that the Lake County branch of the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA), formerly located at the Mentor Municipal Center is currently closed. Local, in-person taxpayer assistance is available at RITA’s Brecksville office located at 10107 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, OH 44141 or at their Cleveland Heights office located at 40 Severance Circle, Cleveland Hts, OH 44118. Walk-in hours are Monday through Friday in Brecksville, and Tuesdays or Thursdays only in Cleveland Heights. The hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for both locations and no appointment is necessary.
The easiest way to file your local city tax is directly on the RITA website at www.ritaohio.com. A secure drop-box remains available in the Mentor Municipal Center lobby for those who prefer to personally submit their completed paper returns. The drop box is also secure enough for any cash or check payments that may be owed. If you would like RITA to complete your taxes for you, you must include a filled out Municipal Income Tax Drop-Off Sheet which can be found here or under the Forms tab on the RITA webpage. The indoor drop-box in the Mentor City Hall lobby is only accessible Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Taxpayers with questions can contact RITA’s Customer Service Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5 PM at (800) 860-7482. Taxpayers may also use this number to access RITA’s 24-hour automated phone system to make payments, check the status of a refund request, or to check estimated payments that have been made.
The Mentor Municipal Center is located at 8500 Civic Center Blvd.
