Participants playing basketball at the Mentor Community Recreation Center.

The Mentor Community Recreation Center has announced enhancements to their facility which includes the installation of an additional indoor basketball court and the removal of Tennis Court 1. This new addition is aimed at providing more opportunities for programming and improving overall usage of our rec center.

The addition of the basketball court will also result in improvement of the tennis experience as well as the installation of a new reflective ceiling liner system to improve lighting across the courts for better visibility, enhance the overall image and appearance of the space, and minimize acoustical distractions, creating a more comfortable and focused playing environment.

“We are excited about these upgrades and believe the additional basketball court will serve many of our members, while the improvements to the tennis courts will elevate the experience for our tennis players,” says Mentor Community Recreation Center Facility Manager Nick Standering.

The removal of Tennis Court 1 will begin on Monday, March 31, 2025. Tennis Court 2 will be closed on that date as well and will remain closed until the new basketball court is completed. The new basketball court will begin installation on Monday, April 7 with an estimated completion date of Monday, April 14

The ceiling upgrade on the tennis courts will begin late spring.
