Annual fundraiser for Meals on Wheels returns to Lake County
The Mall Walk is back! The Lake County Council on Aging is bringing the community the best of both worlds this year as the agency culminates a month long virtual March for Meals celebration with a live event at Great Lakes Mall on Saturday, April 2, 2022. This week the Council on Aging launched the fundraiser with an online raffle featuring over a dozen valuable gift baskets.
This Lake County March for Meals event is one of hundreds of local programs across the country that reaches out to their communities to help fund the Meals on Wheels program and bring awareness of the nutritional needs of the senior population of Lake County. In 2021, 1,568 Lake County seniors received a total 208,591 home delivered and congregate meals from the Council on Aging.
After a two-year absence, the agency returns live to the Great Lakes Mall for its 17th annual March for Meals walk. The indoor event begins with registration at 8:00 a.m. In addition to camaraderie and walking for a great cause, participants will receive a continental breakfast, a goodie bag and enjoy musical entertainment. The 2022 top event sponsor is the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, followed by Visiting Angels, Matrix Tool and Machine, Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation, Schraff Thomas Law and dozens of other sponsors!
Individuals, organizations and businesses can participate in the one-mile, indoor walk by forming walk teams, or may raise pledges in support of the Lake County Council on Aging’s nutrition programs.
