Due to the winter storm, Mentor Recreation classes and activities and Mentor Senior Center classes and activities have been cancelled for Monday, January 6, 2014 and Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
Because of the extreme cold temperatures, and the possibility of frostbite due to prolonged exposure to the cold, the Mentor Sled Hill, located at 8350 Carpenter Drive, is closed both days as well.
The Mentor Fire Department is urging residents to stay inside and out of the cold if at all possible, and to exercise extreme caution if driving. For residents who lose power or heat during the winter storm, the Mentor Senior Center has been designated an emergency warming center and will be open until 10:00 p.m., on Monday, January 6, 2014.
Additionally, the Mentor City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 7th at 7:30 p.m. has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 8th at 7:30 p.m.
